Give us two pints of that, then! John boy, I sat up until the early hours mulling over your promotion and after much deliberation, Brandy and Efes I am prepared to recommend you for a two star appointment under one condition. You must immediately rebadge to a more salubrious line Regiment, I would suggest RHA (To give a bit of balance). I commend the idea to the House or in Gordons case, the Tenement. PS: The Sun is beatin' doon oan ma heid.

| Er Johnboy old chap...Just had a word with the adj. Promotion to Maj/Gen now needs 850 posts....Improve your table manners and learn about back handers and you may get through the next selection...By gad the gunners are really lowering their standards, not that they were very high in the first place.......... |

| Forgot to mention "John Boy", old bean, IF the results of the promotion board go in your favour I am afraid that you will have to get rid of the "John Boy" moniker (Apologies to Ritter), it identifies too much with the workings classes. Johnnie has a bit more gravitas. | |

| "John Chappie" might be acceptable.
(Would certainly go down well with the RAVC).

Bit harsh I've had this moniker since 1980... I don't think granpa Walton would approve .Though I will learn proper English and improve my table manners

| Dear, Oh Dear!
In this context MA stands for Military Assistant (a Major with impeccable social connections who is capable of joined up writing)
Am tempted to ask Eric who understands subjects such as military writing and Staff Duties in The Field to conduct a quick teach in at the next Senior Officers' Study Day.

Can you understand what your doctor writes on the prescription? No I thought not LOL. Letters from senior officers in "joined up writing" needs a degree in nuclear physics to understand, ie a hise is really a house to you common muck.
