| I have noticed there is such a medal. All be it commerative one. A friend of mine wears it, his sole medal and on the left side. I know we should wear this on the right as commerative. Does anyone else bother wearing there's or have they bothered to purchase it?

| Mike I like the way you have included the RAOC motto, it was that which led me to the fact that one of my many bothers was RAOC. I can remember around 1955 there was a plaque on the wall at my mothers house, at the time when I read the TONANTI part I thought it must be something to do with that brother (his name being Tony (Anthony)) turned out it was his but not for the reason I thought Les | |

| Another thing, it would be cheaper to get the chocolate "Gold Coins" from Lidl, and just add ribbon, could have a whole row of medals, very cheap Les | |

| As i said les. i got i earned one in ulster running about for 6 months hards targetting- proper patrolling. And Bosnia when the place was in f***** chaos. Im not interested in it, womdering aboout whether on was issued mate.
BFG Germany as one put it, a doss. Few hard exercises Hohne, Sennelarger, Soltau , but it was cheap booze, plenty of whores, and good money whilst serving there!
To be fair, this was viewed as cushty as cyprus was until the tour guide was killed there by the RGJ. So , my mate from legion should technically not be allowed to wear the piece of s***?

| Could not agree more Tommy, I had all these arguments back in the 70's when certain people were being sent to different theatres for just enough time to get the medal, although not actually taking part Les | |

| Tommy mentioning whores reminds me of the American in Vietnam who got a dose from a prostitute who turned out to be a Vietcong spy. He claimed and received a purple heart for being wounded in action. Might be an urban myth but knowing the yanks anything is possible.
I do know that my best mates son in law got a medal when serving in the US airforce for bombing Libya years ago. He was ground crew in the UK.
As for BAOR medal, I would be too embarassed to wear one. One guy I was in basic training with was agitating for a medal with letters to Soldier magazine etc. Made me squirm! | |
