| Why is it the Government always have problems finding money for really necessary things but find it easily for so called "new ideas" that will make life wonderful for all these people, something wrong somewhere | |

| Les,
The world's gone mad. Not all youth are bad just the minority. They are the ones that don't want to work and delight in messing up the inferstructure around them.

| Yes of course you are right, it is a small minority that are the problem and unfortunately they are in a world where everything comes easy, the more they get the more they want, to hell with the rest and to hell with the law, what was so wrong with Borstal, it certainly worked with some of the people I knew, whilst growing up, the majority didn't want a return visit, think the country has now gone soft | |

| Yes shelldrake I do remember the old days however I don't remember many people taking on the law, beating up policemen, or the police having to wear body armour, most of the fights were between mod's and rockers, and most of the problems Teddy Boy wise was the tearing up of cinema seats | |

| Shelldrake,
I remember that of my haunts in the late 1950's (riding my Triumph Bonneville) visiting most weekends the Ace Cafe, near Hangers Lane. What the difference between those 'rockers' with leather jackets etc is they had respect for the law and fellow beings, where as the minority we are talking about have no respect for anyone or anything. I don't suppose they even know what BAOR/BFG stands for.
Which brings me back to the title of the thread - BAOR/BFG Medals. what have we all agreed upon about these medals 'cause I'm lost now that we are into 6 pages etc.

Congrats for reaching WO1. Seeing as you are ex-RASC/RCT, I think your appointment was probably Staff-Sergeant-Major in old money terms.

| Hi Shelldrake,
I think I have the answer on the BAOR/BFG Medal thread. I trawled back over the previous pages and have deduced that the commemerative medal is not popular with the old timers and is more or less a commercial venture to wet the appetites of those seeking recognision of their former service postings. Each to their own.
